Aaaaaarg. I'm just so ... so ... arg. I'm just so frustrated. It could have been something. It could have been a movie with a powerful woman with her own motives and agency and identity. It could have meant something. I'm so frustrated!
I have decided to blame this all on Superman and his stupid movie. I will develop an irrational hatred to all things Clark Kent related. That'll learn 'im!
We bought a new house in April and have been working since then to get it finished. I keep saying I'll do one big post when it's done, but instead it seems I'm going room-by-room. I posted my son's room and our patio in recent months. I'm hoping soon to post our living room/hallway, kitchen/dining room and bathroom. But for now, here's our bedroom that we just finished yesterday (save one or two finishing touches). As always, you can click on a photo to see a bigger version on Flickr.
So, I've been working on this freehand painting of a tree for a few weeks now and I've finally finished it (mostly). I still need to do the bits that extend up onto the ceiling, but I'm in the stage where I step back for a few days and decide where extra foliage (if any) is needed. I'm rather pleased with it..if I do say so myself, so I thought I would share it here..in the saucy place. ;)
So I've been focusing most of my time on my live webshow. Been getting cool guests scheduled, prizes for Contests! (check out the Halloween Art Contest - ends Saturday!) I've also been running nightly late mid day and/or late night chats (hey I'm on right now). And of course Video Fight Club, which seems to be my biggest draw.
But I was wondering as my friends, what you think. What would interest you in a community like this? Basically it's a niche facebook/myspace centered around my webshow and the podpocalypse blog.
Recently the forums have gotten a little fun activity. I'm trying to think of other fun threads to start, so if you've got an idea, please start one!

Я вовсе и не интересуюсь машинами, и знаками.. Но, когда сдала на права, просто стала замечать, что дорожные знаки вообще существуют. И вот я стала замечать, что эти знаки бывают очень смешными (так как наша страна страдает финансированием, то часто знаки рисуют сами строители!)

So I used to read Huffington Post. I liked it because it was progressive, but also had stupid little news links, and so I could read about politics, but also entertainment and still feel like I was getting a progressive slant.
Over the past year or two, it became more and more obvious to me that despite the progressive slant, Huff Po wasn't all that different from the mainstream news, especially in one way: women were being depicted really disrespectfully. (This is especially ironic since the founder, Arianna Huffington, is a powerful and strong woman!)
I mean, every day, there were at least a few articles up about whether or not Michelle Obama can pull off carpis or what's Hiliary Clinton's style through the years or who is the sexiest first lady. And I can handle a little bit of shit, but it's been constant and it started to really, really bother me. I mean, this is the Secretary of State and you want to reduce her - time and time again - to a pair of pumps? Really?
Maybe Huff Po has always done this and I just didn't notice because I was so happy to have a CNN alternative. But whenever it happened, I know I am done reading it for good. Especially after today.
Here's today's example: this article is about new cancer meds. And what image leads you to the article?

Because women must depicted sexually. And even if the subject is cancer, if women are involved, it must be sexy. We must titillate! Bleh.
Also, Huff Po gets really into pseudoscience, which pisses me off.
